The School of Medicine Class of 2026 exceeded national benchmarks, achieving an initial match rate of 95.5%, which increased to 100% following the SOAP process. This outcome reflects the collective dedication of our students, faculty, advisors and staff. Dr. Loretta Jackson gives more statistics from the Match process this year.

Leonard Tow Humanism in Medicine Award

The Leonard Tow Humanism in Medicine Award, presented by The Arnold P. Gold Foundation, recognizes a graduating medical student and a faculty member who exemplify humanism in medicine.

Accessibility Features Available for Students in Canvas

Institutionally, we are currently updating educational materials to comply with accessibility standards outlined in Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). In addition to these institutional efforts, Canvas provides several built-in features designed to support learner needs and promote access to course content. School of Medicine Guides

The School of Medicine’s key guidance resources for course directors, administrators, faculty and evaluators now have a new home. The Office of Medical Education has transitioned the Course Directors Guide, Course Administrators Guides, Curriculum Committee Guide and Curriculum Evaluation Guide from the School of Medicine website to SharePoint. Dr. David Norris gives more details about the change.

Rowland Medical Library Spotlight: Thieme’s MedOne Education adds new learning modules

MedOne Education, produced by Thieme Medical Publishing Group, supports medical education through its learning platform. MedOne Education includes well-known books such as Gilroy’s Atlas of Anatomy, a gold-standard anatomy title known for clear, full-color anatomical illustrations and student-friendly organization. However, MedOne Education’s content extends far beyond anatomy to include a wide range of foundational and clinical science resources. Dr. Sarah Adcock explains more about this resource.

Upcoming SOM Faculty Development Sessions

The School of Medicine (SOM) and the Department of Advanced Medical Education have collaborated again this year to develop the 2026 SOM Annual Faculty Development Series. This series provides one-hour sessions throughout the year on topics that aim to enhance teaching and learning, and the academic environment. These virtual sessions are held at noon and highlight the expertise and research of SOM faculty as well as faculty from other institutions. Select presentations will offer an in-person version.
